HalCash enables Caritas to deliver real-time funds to individuals impacted by the Covid crisis in Spain
Madrid, Spain and Millersville, Maryland, June 14, 2020 – HalCash, a fintech provider located in Madrid and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pin4, today announced the expansion of its activities with Caritas, the charitable arm of the Catholic Church in Spain, to deliver financial relief to individuals in need, and in particular, due to the ongoing Covid crisis in Spain. Spain has been hit particularly hard by Covid, both in terms of deaths and illnesses due to the virus and in terms of the economic impact from the virus and the extensive lockdown. Even as the lockdown begins to ease, the economic impact is expected to persist, particularly among financially vulnerable segments of the population.
As one of the largest charities in Spain, Caritas has been on the front lines of assisting individuals negatively impacted by Covid. Among other activities, Caritas provides financial support for individuals who need to purchase groceries or other necessities or need to pay their rent or other bills. To support these efforts, Caritas uses HalCash – a solution which allows Caritas to send cash to individuals in real-time via their mobile phones for pick up at over 6,000 ATMs across Spain. The solution is simple and convenient for the funds recipients and the recipients do not need to have or use any card, bank account, mobile wallet or other mechanism to access their funds. The funds recipients also do not (and cannot) incur any fees to access the cash, thereby ensuring the recipient is able to access and make use of all of the funds sent to them.
Caritas is very pleased with the HalCash solution because it enables them to provide financial relief to individuals in need quickly and efficiently and their funds recipients find it very convenient and easy to access their cash. Also, by providing cash relief, their recipients have the flexibility to purchase their most critical necessities and pay their most essential bills easily.
“We are honored to be able to support Caritas in this important work,” said Jim Leroux, CEO of HalCash. “Hopefully, we can help make a difference in the lives of those impacted by this crisis by providing them with immediate and convenient access to funds to pay for their daily necessities.”
HalCash is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pin4, a fintech solutions provider based in the United States.
